Pennsylvania gaming revenue rises in August, though sports betting dips

The state of Pennsylvania has recorded total gaming revenue figures of $408.1m for August, representing a 31.3% increase from the same period last year.

Retail slots were the biggest contributor to the total with $209.8m – up from $167.0m in August 2020. Retail table games were the second biggest revenue generator with $86.3m, followed by igaming slots with $66.3m.

Sports betting and fantasy contests were the only sectors to experience a revenue decrease from last year, dropping 1.5% to $18.1m and 24.6% to $1.6m respectively.

Parx Casino had the highest revenue total, generating $59.2m. Hollywood Casino at Penn National was next with $49.8m, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia rounded out the top three raising $48.6m.

Live! Casino in Philadelphia experienced the the largest increase in revenue, with its $21.3m revenue representing an increase of over 1000% from last year.
