State-sponsored racing body Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) has announced today (March 26) that chief executive Brian Kavanagh will step down when his contract ends in September.
Kavanagh was appointed HRI’s first CEO in 2001 and held the position for 20 years.
HRI has now launched a recruitment campaign to find its next chief executive.
“I would like to thank Brian Kavanagh for 20 years of incredible service and deep commitment to Horse Racing Ireland and to the industry in Ireland,” HRI chairman Nicky Hartley said.
“His knowledge and expertise, at home and abroad, will no doubt ensure that Brian will continue to play a significant part in the industry, and we wish him well.”
Applications for the job have already opened and close on Monday, April 19.
