Player spending on sports betting in Tennessee increased year-on-year and month-on-month during March, reaching its highest monthly total since December.
Gross handle for the month of March hit $548.6 million (£413.1 million/€483.0 million). This was 16.2% more than last year and 32.7% ahead of February’s total in Tennessee.
It was also the first month in which gross sports handle has not fallen month-on-month since November, when a new state record of $594.4 million was set. Tennessee launched its legal sports betting market in November 2020.
Figures from the Tennessee Sports Wagering Council covered gross handle during the month. They also included $3.2 million in unspecified adjustments.
Prior to those adjustments, total sports wagers in March hit $551.8 million. This beat last year by 16.5% and was 32.2% ahead of February.
As for tax, the council reported collecting $10.1 million in privilege tax from sports betting during March.
